Herausforderung | Formwork solution for an underground station with unusual ceiling geometry |
Built as part of the stretch that bypasses most of the surface stretch of the Filyovskaya Line, Slavjanski Boulevard serves the residents of the southwestern districts situated between the Fruzensky and Filyovsky radii. The station, designed by Architect S.Volovich, has a single-vault design of shallow depth. The vault rests on horizontal walls, due to the favourable hydroisolation conditions that are present there. The station has two underground vestibules and serves as a junction with surface urban traffic.
We were required to develop and provide an economical formwork solution for the construction of the underground station with unusual ceiling geometry. Our formwork engineers worked with the building contractors to develop the perfect mobile formwork gantry. This was used to produce the complex curved segments of the station, 200 m long and 20 m wide, in just five months. Smooth formwork faces were created using shaped elements on curving H 20 wooden beams. The arch was formed by a specially-produced steel structure supported by a total of 80 ID 15 towers. The height of these supporting towers varied between six and ten m within the formwork tunnel carriage, aligned as required by the shape of the new station.
