Bezeichnung Al Shaqab Equestrian Centre
Herausforderung Provide access to the underside of the huge, 30 m high curved roofs over the two arenas

Probably the largest, most sophisticated equestrian centre in the world, this USD 407 million facility incorporates a state-of-the-art riding academy, an equine hospital members’ clubhouse and stables for members’ horses, accommodation for owners and staff and a range of ancillary buildings. At the heart of the development is a huge equestrian competition venue featuring two Olympic standard arenas - one covered, one with a retractable roof. Both incorporate 5-level grandstands and luxurious spectator facilities. The riding academy will form part of Qatar Foundation’s Education City, a 2,500-acre campus on the outskirts of Doha that hosts branch campuses of some of the world’s leading universities, educational and research institutions.

In order to provide access to the underside of the huge, 30 m high curved roofs over the two arenas for M&E and finishing-contractors work, SGB supplied approximately 75,000 m³ of scaffolding, mostly CUPLOK® system scaffold and some in birdcage format. The complex requirements made excellent use of our experience in careful design and meticulous logistical planning. We also supplied formwork for many of the ancillary buildings including CUPLOK shoring, MkII Soldiers, DU-AL™ beams and LOGIK® panels.
