Bezeichnung Jubilee Campus
Herausforderung Unusual architecture with the unconventional arrangement of angles and curves

Three interesting new buildings have appeared on the Jubilee Campus at the University of Nottingham and SGB was involved in their creation. Two of the new buildings, International House and the Amenities Building – which house faculties, teaching rooms, catering and seminar facilities – rise from the ground like sloping natural landforms, an effect heightened by their terracotta tile cladding system. The third structure, which houses a range of facilities for new businesses, is the Gateway, a rounded, metallic shingle-clad building.

The unusual architecture with the unconventional arrangement of angles and curves was a real challenge for us. Our access solution consisted of CUPLOK® combined with traditional tube and fittings. For the building of a façade which sloped 25°, our engineers developed a special mast climbing work platform adapted to cope with the unusual angle. This enabled the craftsmen to work up to a height of 27 m in safety.
